Japanese imports use a different number
Many Japanese-market cars are identified by a shorter chassis number (for example NZE161-1234567) rather than a 17-character VIN. Our report needs a standard VIN, so for those cars ask the seller for the auction sheet and use it alongside an independent inspection.
Frequently asked questions
Can I check a Japanese import by VIN in Kenya?
Only if the car has a standard 17-character VIN. Japan-domestic cars often carry a shorter chassis number, which our report does not cover.
Is the VIN decode free?
Yes. The basic decode of manufacturer specifications is free; the full history report is a paid upgrade.
